Alpha

Is there more to life than this?

Why and how do I pray?

What is my meaning and Purpose?

Alpha looks at these and other questions through a series of presentations and conversations that provide an introduction to the Christian faith in an informal, fun, and friendly environment.  Millions of people the world over have attended an Alpha Course – an opportunity to explore the meaning of life from a Christian perspective. Millions have found a fresh and engaging space and time to ask their most probing questions about God as they consider the life of faith. Participants have found inner healing, positive changes in attitude and character, and the security of a lasting relationship with our loving God.  Alpha invites all participants to experience the life giving, and soul reviving walk with God.

All questions are welcomed! Bring your curiosity and a spirit primed to explore!

Alpha is a course developed at Holy Trinity Church in the London neighborhood of Brompton. Nicky Gumbel is the primary creator and presenter of the class.  Each session begins with his thoughts on the topic to be considered. As fellow Anglican Christians, St. John’s shares a common faith with Holy Trinity while respectfully disagreeing on some details. Specifically we embrace the idea of Baptism by the Holy Spirit as a great spiritual gift, while acknowledging that many faithful Christians do not experience it. St. John’s – along with the whole of the Episcopal Church – is expansively inclusive and celebrating of all people irregardless of who they love, how they love, or their gender identity.
